The action began with the normal 7 AM Wednesday vigil, as the weather continued to 'transform' from very light showers to sunshine.
100+ peaceful activists gathered in a nearby park at 8 AM to hear and sing about the struggles and successes to transform fear and hate to love and understanding.
Those gathered then processed to the front driveway of Alliant Techsystems, the largest Minnesota based military contractor. Several members of AlliantACTION shared with those gathered information about the various products produced by ATK, including dU munitions, cluster bombs, landmines and rocket motors for Trident II and Minuteman III nuclear missiles. All these weapons are considered illegal under International Law.
John Hynes, a former Honeywell engineer, shared the story of his own transformation. John and his wife Jeanne then read the letter they would attempt to deliver to ATK officials regarding the desire of AlliantACTION to share their City Pages award for "Best Activists Group" with the company.
Walking up the driveway to ATK, the Hynes' intentions were blocked, but a testimony to their convictions resulted in an arrest. One spectator felt the emotions of the event as one of deep committment to the hard work of changing the hearts and minds of those who do not want to even dialogue with us.
